Suzanne Lindsey of Alameda, California, has a history of working on behalf of her community. In the mid-1970s, she led efforts opposing the construction of nuclear power plants in Alameda County. A graduate of San Francisco State University, where she earned a bachelor of arts in education and secured a life-teaching credential, Suzanne Lindsey has also served her community as an elementary school teacher with the Mt. Diablo Unified School District. There, she spent several years instructing gifted students.
In the 1980s, her son Scott died tragically in a mid-air plane crash. In response to his death, which occurred over Oakland Airport, she advocated for a universal requirement mandating that all small aircraft upgrade their on-board transponders. She spoke about this issue before a number of city councils.
Today, still residing in Northern California, Ms. Lindsey enjoys a life that involves staying physically active through such pursuits as swimming and sailing. Her hobbies also include drawing and watching basketball games.
